Intentions, exercises and goals

As a graduate student, I spend most of my time reading articles, journals, and blog posts. The vast amounts of information often make me lose track of what I have set out to learn. I realized that I need more structure in the way I process this information. Sitting down to collect my thoughts and perspectives about the new information would help me better organize my learnings. Blogging, I believe, will be the perfect exercise to develop this habit.

As I sat down and attempted to write my first blog post, I quickly realized that a lot of work would be needed to improve my writing skills. Is there a better exercise to improve writing other than just writing and revising your work? With that in mind, I began with writing this first post - Intentions, exercises and goals

Writing this post has been a great learning experience and I’ve really enjoyed the process so far. I plan to consistently publish one post every 2 weeks to keep me in check with my reading and writing exercises. I know that there is room for improvement, but I will constantly remind myself to not be overly critical about my writing and try to make steady progress. To more such posts!

p.s. In the past, there have been many times when I have wanted to write posts about my thoughts about various things. However, I could never pick up the courage to actually write a full-fledged post. I hope that this exercise of blogging will make me confident to share my thoughts about a wide variety of topics as well.
